1979 Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 (W116) LHD.
This is a very special Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9. It was supplied new by Mercedes Benz dealership Albisher & Alkazem, in Kuwait, in late 1979 and imported into the UK in the mid 80’s.
It is a high specification model with climate control, power reclining rear seat, full tan leather interior (including doors and roof lining) and deep pile carpet.
The car has only covered 56,000 miles (90,000km) and comes with full service history from new. As such it is in exceptional condition and drives without fault with incredible power and refinement.
It is fitted with the US spec bumpers and headlamps but seems to be a full power European spec car. I bought European specification bumpers and headlights and they are available if the buyer would like to convert the car.
Unlike many high mileage and abused 6.9s this car has been used sparingly over the last 34 years and regularly serviced by main dealers.
Last year classic Mercedes Specialist Robert Schmitt replaced the rear suspension spheres and overhauled the steering and the car drives like a dream.
I own the Classic Car Club in central London where the car is stored. A new battery has just been fitted and the car is mot’d (with no advisories) until November 2014 and taxed until May 2014.
This is a rare opportunity to buy a superb low mileage, highly maintained example of possibly the best saloon car Mercedes ever made.
