Sellers original description:
Silver Spur with only 17,000 Miles from new.
In 1980 Rolls-Royce introduced a new range: the Silver Spirit and Silver Spur. Externally these cars were entirely new, but retained most of the chassis platform of the Silver Shadow. The major exception was the rear end, which was modified to accept new rear suspension. This new system had been launched during 1979 on the Corniche and Camargue models. Many of the changes behind the development of the new car were due to impending safety legislation. The Spirit of Ecstasy, for example, was no longer fixed to the grille, but designed to retract into the radiator shell upon impact. Other improvements included better ride comfort and a new suspension system with automatic ride height control. The long-wheelbase version was called the Silver Spur. Four inches longer than the Spirit, it is identifiable by its extended rear windows and Everflex roof. A special run of 25 Silver Spur Centenary models was produced in 1985, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the motor car in Great Britain and the production of the 100,000th Rolls-Royce.
The example on sale here is a long-wheelbase Silver Spur, in excellent original condition throughout. Having covered only 17,000 miles from new. The chocolate hide interior is virtually unmarked. This car drives like new. This 1982 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is finished in its original very attractive colour scheme of Magnolia with Burnt Chocolate Connolly Hide interior and matching Everflex roof, all still in superb order.
With only two fastidious owners from new and having covered a genuine, incredibly low mileage of 17,000 miles, this beautifully maintained Rolls-Royce represents a great opportunity to acquire a wonderful icon of British workmanship of the highest standard at a fraction of the price it would cost to purchase a more modern equivalent. Having been owned by the last owner for over thirty years and being part of a large private collection of interesting motor cars this example was regularly used and always looked after by the family's resident mechanic. As a result it still drives exceptionally well and will surely give its new owner immense pleasure.
It is very rare to come across a genuine original example like this with such great provenance.
This car has a new MOT and is ready to be shown or used this summer, this car must be seen to be believed.
