Since the day Sir Alec Issigonis penned the now classic lines of what was to become “The Mini” it has become such a part of so many people’s lives.
The ADO20 Mini Clubman was launched by the new parent company, BLMC, in October 1969, though few were sold before January 1970.
Replacing the old Traveller and countryman was the Clubman estate.
In late 1980 the Clubman estate was relaunched as the Mini 1000 H.L, substituting the renowned 1098cc engine with the 998 version. The Clubman name was to disappear from the Mini range for the next 26 years.
However, what goes around comes around and the new Mini range has added a Clubman estate to its line up there is a huge revival in the popularity of the old Mini Clubman estate with values soaring and, as with most classics, low mileage one owner well cared for examples are now very highly sought after.
SUMMARY
ERK 511T is a very special and rare Mini Clubman Estate that looks incredible and drives superbly.
You would be extremely hard pushed to find a better original one.
We really feel that Left hand drive, on this occasion, adds to the charm and indeed rarity - we see it as a bonus. If you have thoughts of touring Europe in a classic mini this summer it is hard to imagine that you could find one better suited for the job. With its impeccable service record it should prove totally reliable. You can get so much in the back, especially with the seats folded down, that you could consider taking the kitchen sink to go with the tent!
If keep in its present condition ERK 511T should prove a sound investment. Consequently it will be of interest to investors as well as collectors and enthusiasts. It would also, however, make a fantastic and fun car for use on a day to day basis, especially as we say for that once in a lifetime adventure across the channel this summer.
