1979 Mitsubishi Colt Sapporo GSR Coupe. I have owned it since 2006 and only ever used it for a couple of months, the rest of the time it has been in storage. The total mileage is now 61,000.
The car is one of a very small number left in the UK (less than 50 according to 'How Many Left?') and must be one of the best unrestored cars left.
I have owned the car since 2006 and looking at the MOTs I have only driven it 1500 miles in 7 years
The log books says it has 4 previous owners, however the owner prior to me was the wife of the original buyer, so either they swapped it between them or bought it back after an early sale.
The car is metallic brown, with a vinyl roof and there does not appear to have been any welding on the bodywork or underneath. The paint is original but as you can see in the pictures there has been a partial respray that you can see looking closely
Mechanically the car is great, I drove in 150 miles last weekend and it is smooth and quiet, well at least for 1979.
Of course the best thing with this model, is the interior and the car is excellent inside, the seats are virtually unmarked with only an easy to repair tiny tear on the side of the drivers seat but the check fabric on the seats is in fantastic condition. The carpet is great both on the floor and the inside of the doors. All the dials and interior equipment works including the swivelling spot light in the overhead console.
If you want to relive the 1970s this car is a must, a much more distinctive, smoother and now cheaper alternate to a Capri and a much classier car when it was new and now a monument to 1970s styling.
