Sellers original description:
We bought her 2 years ago, as something to run around in. After only a few weeks and the fact that she would start on the button every time we decided she was a keeper and set about a full restoration.
She was sand blasted and the full extent of her mistreatment we realised, bits of old crap metal tacked and bonded In place, newspaper filler scenarios, you know the sort of thing. So she has had, wait for it.....
Replacement complete rear quarters, treated and red oxided internally, air intakes plated and lead loaded.
A complete rear valance, treated and red oxided internally
A complete front valance, treated and red oxided internally
complete front quarters
2 complete heater channels.
I have a full catalog of photos for the restoration which will be included on a CD for the successful bidder.
What else I hear you cry..
Well she has had new paint which is a one off, don't panic, I have a litre left and the mixing code should she ever get scrapped. The colour really needs to be seen, but its a dark purple with a metallic fleck. Depending on lighting, she can look, black, purple bronze or brown. You need to see her really. She has also had new shoes which are BRM alloys and has been lowered on the front by 2 inches.
There are American spec towel rail bumpers front and rear, A brand new engine which has covered around 1500 miles since being built, this also has a Porsche 356 chrome oil filler/breather. See pic 4. New window rubbers, the headlight internals have been colour coded to match the leather interior, as has the fuel tank, steering wheel, switches, grab handle and winder handles. She has a complete leather interior including the roof lining which has been airated to match the original. The internal carpets are Wilton which have been edged with the leather. There is some spare hide left as we intended to have a tool bag and a bonnet carpet made, but did not get round to it.
As well as the Porsche filler there are some other trick bits.
Limited edition Empi polished Aluminium running boards
Stainless steel stone guards on rear arches
1966 front wing mount mirrors
Early beetle rear view mirrors and sunvisors
Roof rack, this needs repainting
3 blade type horn grills
Remote controlled LED "colour set" lights under dash, in engine bay and bonnet
Scat chrome quickshifter
Ipod doc in ashtray connected to amp and 2 speakers, there is a volume control on the dash which matches the light switch so does not look out of place.
There is so much to see I would recommend coming to look at her. the only thing she needs is the bonnet carpet set and a glove box liner. Oh and most importantly someone who will love her.
Well that's it other than to say there is a folder with some of her history in it the pictures as referenced earlier and all the receipts (over £6000.00) for the restoration.
