I think this is one of the best examples of a completely original classic VW MK1 Golf GLi Cabriolet which is in excellent condition. I have owned the car for two years and have enjoyed its versatility, particularly through the summer months when the car comes into its own and attracts a lot of attention.
The drive is smooth through the five gears. Suspension is original and in good condition, the clutch is light in operation. The Mk1 Golf will be supplied with support documentation including service schedule, operating manuals and original sales literature. It is fuel injected with a K-jet system that runs well. The car has been kept as standard and has not been modified or altered in any way, other than the provision of a CD player. An original 1980 Blaupunkt Windsor SQR radio/cassette player comes with the car for authenticity but I am not sure if the unit still works.
The bodywork is in the original factory gloss paint work in Mars Red protected by Swissvax and has not been resprayed. The car has been regularly cleaned and polished. It has spent most of its life garaged and consequently is in near new condition. There are a couple of minor stone chips and loose paint to rear valance. The car retains its original vinyl roof and hood cover which are in good working condition and clean. It retains its original bumpers, mouldings and bright work.
The interior is in mint condition throughout, with original thick pile carpet and carpet mats. Manufacturers labels are all present and correct including specification sticker. Supplied with original keys and good set of Pirelli tyres on original unmarked tarantula alloy wheels including the spare wheel.
Historical service and MOT documentation available, 4 previous owners and only 1 500 miles added since 2009. The 22,183 miles are genuine and can be backed up by reference to MOT's and servicing bills.
