EXTERIOR:
This beautiful Golf GTi 16V is finished in the classic factory Tornado Red, (Code LY3D) and maintains a deep shine having never been painted and garaged all its life. The bumpers, rubber side mouldings and all other body trimmings are perfect and scuff free. The 16V badges front and rear are intact. There is a small ding on the N/S/F wing. The supplying VW Dealer, Liverdale Motors, rear window sticker is present as is the inspection sticker dated 19/12/88 on the boot cross member. Dealer accessory mud flaps fitted in 1989 at a cost of £45 are still present. Original, preserved and very special.
INTERIOR:
The interior of this Golf is in perfect condition with the sports seats finished in the Grey/Red trim, (Code HZ) along with the matching unmarked cloth covered door and side panels. The carpets are still protected by the original VW carpet over-mats. None of the plastic trim has been damaged and all the controls work as they should including the original Blaupunkt Windsor SQR38 tape player and Multi-Function Computer. The boot has a dark grey carpet that looks brand new, all the tools are still present and correct. The red ‘16V’ badge on the glove box has a small scuff. Incredible in every respect.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION:
This car is in excellent mechanical order and really boasts what GTi ownership should be about, tremendous fun! The engine produces a 139bhp at 6100rpm with 168Nm of torque, enough to sprint to 60mph in 7.9 seconds. It really drives perfectly with a distinctive, addictive exhaust note. Masses of service history with a recent full service including a cam-belt and tensioner replacement. The 5 speed sports gearbox is precise and is a joy to use. This GTi is exactly how the manufacturer intended.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES:
This superb Golf GTi is fitted with the standard alloy sports wheels which all remain in excellent un-refurbished condition. The centre plastic caps have a few markings. They are shod in branded 185/60 R14 tyres that have minimal wear. With ventilated front disc brakes and rear disc brakes there is plenty of stopping power. A full brake overhaul has been carried out ensuring the car pulls up quickly in a straight line.
HISTORY FILE:
Supplied new by Liverdale VW Dealers on the 31st March 1989 to a Mr David Niven for a vehicle for his wife it remained in her careful care until February 2002. The New Vehicle Order Form still present in the comprehensive history file, reveals a price of £11,450 was paid and a 1983 Golf GTi was taken in part exchange! Annual VW servicing up to this point and 35,000 miles is documented before the second owner acquired it to preserve. Despite hardly using the vehicle it still was regularly serviced and full MOT history confirms the very low mileage of just 38,942.
The original VW Dealer blue document holder is also with the car that contains all the owner’s manuals, instructions pamphlets and even the ON CALL breakdown business card. All keys are present along with the very rare 16V key blade protector and metal key tag.
A Recent full service, including a cam-belt and brake overhaul ensures the new owner can jump in and simply enjoy.
