Classic Renault 25 2.2 GTX Automatic (Facelift). For those that don't remember, these are big, comfortable, fast and reliable Executive Hatchbacks that do around 35 to the gallon on a run. This car is 100% genuine and unmolested and is probably now the best available RHD example of one of Renault's best ever cars. It drives and looks pretty much as good as the day it left the showroom and has impeccable road manners. The first owner had it for 20 years and never took it out in Winter or in the rain and it has only covered 31,000 miles from new. I have got hold of it before it is allowed to deteriorate and it really is in lovely condition everywhere and built with a quality long forgotten in Euroland. It has all original paint and a beautiful blue velour interior that looks like it has never been sat in. Everything on the car works exactly as it should.
My Uncle ran a Taxi/Chauffer Company back in the 80s and had a fleet of 6 of these along with Carltons & Granada's. The Renaults did a 5 to 1 ratio on fares to fuel as opposed to the Carltons and Granadas that did only 3 to 1 - that is a big difference! They were also the most reliable, most comfortable and most popular with customers - who loved them. I regularly did 1000 miles per day - yes per day!! in one of these with Chauffer work from Airports and trips across Europe. I have never driven a car for so long and been less fatigued as with these fabulous Renaults (possibly a Jag XJ - if I am totally honest). I regularly did Calais - Barcelona in 10 hours with 3 stops for fuel! (I moved on Renault Saffranes in the late 90s and they are also superb for long distance and I would love a time warp V6 one of those as well).
This does anything a modern executive saloon can do and do it with character and style - and it won't lose you money whilst it is doing it - this car can only increase in value over time if the condition is maintained. It would look great with an 80s caravan behind it to take to events and shows etc.
It was first registered on 16th Feb 1989 and comes with MOT until 23rd July 2010. It is hard to imagine it failing on anything. It is Taxed until August 2010. It comes with 2 sets of keys, the full Dealer Pack including Handbook, Service book, Dealer Network Book, Sound System Book, Renault Code of Practice. and recent MOTs. There is also a print out of the entire MOT history to verify the mileage.
Mechanically, there is nothing untoward to report. As you would expect with only 31,000 miles the 2.2L Paperwork, it starts, runs and stops just as it should with no smoke, juddering or vibration. It drives very smoothly indeed and the powerful engine pulls very well. The 4 - Speed Automatic gearbox also works just as it should with smooth changes even at full throttle. The vehicle starts first time, stays cool and does not lose or mix any fluids. It is an absolute joy to drive and effortlessly cruises at well beyond Motorway speeds.
The beautiful blue velour interior is also in excellent order and is pretty much as new. The front seats are electrically adjustable and very comfortable. They adjust several ways with adjustable lumbar support and the steering wheel position is also adjustable so the perfect driving position is assured. The carpets and roof lining are also in excellent order and it is obvious this vehicle as been pampered throughout it's life. It has a large electric Sunroof making it very light and airy. All in all, it is a very nice place to be in there.
It is well equipped with Automatic Gearbox, Traction Control (switchable), Electric Windows x 4, Talking Computer, Trip Computer, Electric Door Mirrors, Adjustable Power Steering, Status Computer, Alloy Wheels, Remote Central Locking, Philips Radio Cassette, Adjustable reach headlights, Immobiliser, Towber with Twin Electrics etc, etc.
The bodywork is in excellent order with only a few tiny marks. It looks stunning in gleaming silver and there are no dents, scratches rust or damage. All in all, this will take some beating as a powerful, prestige everyday classic. This Renault 25 needs nothing and must be one of the best examples around for this money.
