Sellers original description:
Built at great expense for fast road and trackday use, this classic 911 never fails to exhilarate whether you’re nipping to the shops or heading to the Nürburgring. It strikes that fantastic compromise by being both civilised enough for a gentle cruise yet suitably equipped for the track.
Starting life as a 1981 3.0SC, it was taken to Autofficina in 2009 where it totally stripped to a bare shell and built into what it is today at a cost of £40k!
Once a bare shell, all corrosion was repaired then fitted with lightweight fibreglass bonnet, engine lid with ducktail spoiler and ’74 RS style bumpers before receiving a comprehensive repaint to the highest standards in Porsche Viper green. Autofficina reckon the body and paint alone took three months. Xenon headlamps were also fitted, which are extremely effective.
Inside there is a full roll cage and Recaro Pole Position competition seats along with deleted rear seats, lightweight door cards, lightweight carpets and a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. There are both normal seat belts for road use and racing harnesses for the track.
The 3-litre engine was fully serviced and deemed to be in excellent condition with great oil pressure. It has a performance exhaust that sounds fabulous.
Interestingly, when Autofficina rebuilt the gearbox, the owner asked that the gear ratios were changed to replicate the Porsche competition cars of the era. Unable to find the right ratios, they ended up having the gears made at great expense. However, the result is well worth it, combined with short-shift, the close-ratio gearbox transforms the way the car drives making it noticeably faster.
The suspension has been lowered, uprated and fitted with solid nylon suspension bushing tightening up the handling. The brakes have been replaced and the Fuchs wheels have been refurbished and fitted with Contisport tyres.
The result is a professionally built backdated lightweight 911 that’s in exceptional condition throughout. It’s tremendous fun to drive making it a perfect weekend car for Sunday morning blasts, European road trips and trackdays. Tremendous value for money when you consider the cost of its build.
