Lovely 1964 Wartburg 311.
Excellent Condition Inside And Out.
These Cars Were Built In The East German Town Of Eisenach After Wwii In The Old Bmw Factory There, That Found Itself In The Russian Zone After The War Ended. These Cars Were The 1st Post War Car To Be Designed And Built In The Factory By The Bmw Workforce And These Cars Were Over-engineered For Their Time With Great Driving Ability And Solid Construction. Their Mechanicals Were Of Dkw Origin But These Cars Were Probably Better Than Anything Dkw Produced In The Years They Were Made 1955-1965. They Were Without Doubt A Superbly Built Car With Simple, Teak Tough Mechanics.
Has White Leather Interior And Column Gear Change, Four Speed With Free Wheel.
* Excellent Chrome, Old Chrome Was Replaced With New (old Stock) Chrome From German Specialist Suppliers A Few Years Ago.
* Was Resprayed To A High Standard Approx 10 Years Ago And Still Superb Shiny Paintwork. No Rust Or Rot Anywhere On The Car.
* Excellent Tires All Round.
* Mechanically Excellent, Always Starts Instantly And Drives Superb. This Car Has Driven To Germany Twice In Recent Years And Traveled Over Much Of The Uk And Ireland And Never Given Trouble. You Could Drive This Car Daily If You Wanted To. The Engine Is Superb.
* Two Stroke, 3 Cylinder 992cc Engine With Only 7 Moving Parts, No Valves. Uses 33:1 Petrol/two Stroke Oil Mix.
This Engine Saw Extensive Use On The European Rally Circuits, Winning Countless Rallies And Is A Very Similar Engine To Those Used By Saab From 1950-1966 (also Dkw Derived).
* These Cars Will Do 80mph, But Will Sit All Day Long At 60 And Average 40 Mpg. They Have Superb Handling For A 60's Car And Corner Like On Rails With Minimal Body Roll.
* Underneath Of The Car Is Rock Solid, These Cars Were Factory Sprayed With Under-seal And This Has Been Maintained Periodically Throughout The Cars Life.
* Car Has Been Converted From 6v To 12v.
