History:
This Mini 1275 Mayfair spent the first year of it's life owned by Rover as a showroom car in the whiterose street dealership in Petersfield, Hampshire. An elderly Female vicar living in petersfield then bought it and used it for three years before it went into dry storage until 2008 (hence the low mileage) it was then owned briefly by a pilot living in Oxfordshire before being purchased by it's last owner in may 2009 (covered just 3500 miles since then as it has only been used occasionally at weekends and kept garaged) In this time XBY 386F Had thousands spent creating the MK1 Cooper S look, It had been the owners dream to own the real thing. The low mileage, Condition and History made XBY 386F The perfect base car to choose for this project.
Body and Paintwork:
The last owner commissioned the roof to be painted black to contrast with the gleaming white paintwork, there are no dents or rust spots what so ever on this vehicle it is as clean as when it came out of the dealership, the Cooper S retro look included a 12"-10" wheel conversion, MK1 Cooper S reverse rim wheels and hub caps, a new interior including door cards, handles and chrome a racing steering wheel, 1960's replica rally wheel arches, 1960's replica stick on external door hinges for modern classic Mini doors (extremely rare) a new stainless steel exhaust system, Torpedo style door mirrors, rear mud flaps, chrome overriders and corner bars on the bumpers, a MK1 grill and surround, MK1 rear light conversion and a MK1 boot lid comlete with number plate light and boot handle, 1960's Aston Fuel filler cap and a second dummy on the other side (in homage to the cooper s twin tank system) 1960's rally style reversing lamp, Front spot and fog lights mounted on a chrome bumper bar, Headlamp covers, bonnet and boot straps.
Interior:
To further the Cooper S look I have lowered the steering column to give a better driving position, fitted MK1 sliding windows, The condition of the interior is like new, it even smells like new.
Mechanics:
It almost goes without saying that the drive-train and braking are faultless, The car is a dream to drive. engine, gearbox, braking is completely standard.
