Hello and welcome to my listing for a 1988 Ford Escort Mk4 1.3 L - OHV.
Finished in Rosso Red, completely standard original example.
This is my first and current car which was bought for my 18th birthday back in 2008, I wanted something a bit different from the rest and older. Before I started using the car in December 2008 (just after I passed my test) the car was in stunning condition. Having only had 2 elderly owners and dry stored all its life, we bought the car from the original supplying dealership in Bungay (R Charlish Ltd, St. Johns Garage)
I felt very lucky to be driving a car that was older than me but in showroom condition !!
The seller (same guy that sold the car brand new in 1988) told us its likely the car had never been out in the rain.....this was evident when I first saw the car, it looked like it had just been driven out of the showroom, the entire car was so clean (including the engine bay which was dirt free and retained its original stickers)
The 2 previous elderly owners had used the car very little and only in dry weather. Everything was just immaculate, the interior even smelt like a new Ford !!
Obviously the car was (and still it) completely rust free, having been garaged all its life and only used in fine weather !

At this point, the car had been sold to a new owner which was me :-) And started to be used and enjoyed regularly.
I've now been driving the car for 2 years and 2 months, I've continued to maintain and look after the Escort and have become quite attached to it ! Great fun even for such a small engine. I will have some very fond memories of this car one day (unless I still own it !)

As you can see I've been using the car a lot and have added quite a few miles to it, it has been a great first car experience, nothing has gone wrong and the Escort has proved 100% reliable which is a true credit to the previous owners and Ford after all these years, engine runs very smooth and returns great MPG being a 1.3 L
This car can easily keep up with modern traffic (providing they are not speeding!)
Now I would like to talk a little more about the cars current condition, of course the car has now been used by me for just over 2 years but still looks stunning.....I've continued to wash and wax the car on a regular basis, the original Rosso Red paint work gleams in the sun, I've had many comments and chats about the car from others whilst I have been out. The car is still completely rust free. The arches, sills and underneath of the car is all solid.
Obviously if you are serious about buying this car I would highly recommend viewing, the car is 23 years old but completely standard and original. With the exception of the Ford mud flaps, I decided to fit these to protect the paint (I also feel they suit the car quite nicely)
To sum up, this is a 1988 Ford Escort Mk4 1.3 L, completely standard in superb condition for age, 100% reliable and very cheap to run. This car will require nothing for a long time yet !
I’m happy to keep the car and continue using it, but it would be nice to buy something a little more powerful now I've had some driving experience and no claims bonus. Im looking at other cars from the 80's, something a bit special in showroom condition :)
The car has just been serviced with fresh oil and new plugs, I may need to use the car a little whilst this listing is live so the mileage may go up a little, more than likely it will stay in the garage though....at least until the weekend ;)
I honestly believe this is one of the best original F reg 1.3 L Mk4 Escorts left in the country, if not the best ?
