Sellers original description:
This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 pickup Truck is one of the famous“Advanced Design Series” trucks to come from Chevrolet after WWII. This truckwas built at the St Louis plant in September 1949 and is one of the 1949 ½models with a few small changes from the 1949 models. It was the 21,505 truck builtin 1949 by the St Louis General Motors plant and the engine came from theTonawanda plant in New York also manufacturer in September 1949. It is a ½ Ton model with a short bed so it fits into a UK garage. Powered by the 216 straight six engine with 92hp and a 3 speed column shift this vehicle was restored in the early 1990's and has one of the rare and option sun visors over the cab. It has barely covered 10,000 miles in the past 25 years.
The truck has approximately 60,000 original miles according to the collector I bought it from. The speedo was changed 10 years ago when the truck underwent a through restoration and it showed 50,000 miles at the time. The condition of the truck is excellent with no rust anywhere and the body is straight with no filler. You can tell from the condition of the underside and the cab that it is a low miles truck which has never been in an accident. The truck is a bit unique as it was restored tobe exactly as it left the factory with the exception of added turn signals (to satisfy modern driving). The engine has been converted to no lead when it was stripped and refurbished in the 1990’s. She starts right on the button and runs perfectly. The truck was completely rewired at the same time and everything works. Paint is an original GM colour of “Cape Maroon” with an oak bed. Almost all these trucks are modified when restored but this is an original equipment restoration with factory features. She even retains the vacuum wipers! She has a UK registration number of 145 Y** although this doesn't show in the pictures.
The tyres were replaced with new ones last year as was the exterior stainless/chrome and badges. The fuel tank and fuel lines have been replaced and the truck has been stored in a dry garage for more than the last 10 years. The paint does have some chips in it but still looks great and the drivers door glass has a scuff but new glass is available for less than £50.00. Overall in beautiful condition and if you wanted to make it a show truck it would be relatively easy. Tax and MOT exempt due to its age.
