Sellers original description:
This BMW 2002 Auto is genuine and totally original, never having undergone any restoration or repair work of any kind. It has won many Concourse awards over the past 20 years, including both Master Class and Elite Class at National level and numerous best in class and best in show trophies at BMW Club and non- BMW Club events.
Being of 1972 vintage it has the benefit of the Historic Vehicle classification at the DVLC and hence no annual road tax is payable. It has covered a genuine 23,000 miles and has been cherished and lovingly cared for by myself for more years than I wish to remember!
It is insured with Carole Nash at an agreed value of £13,000. However, the true value is in excess of this as it is a genuinely unique example - if it were stolen or written off, it would be impossible to replace.
I have nothing much more to add, other than the following additional facts, as the photographs speak for themselves, :-
MOT'd until mid August 2012.
One previous lady owner (known to myself) who purchased the car from new in 1972 - ownership was signed over to me in 1992 at which time the recorded mileage was 13,000 miles - current mileage 23,000 miles.
Sale includes comprehensive file of entire history of car going back to original sales documentation from Vincents of Reading in Jan 1972.
Service history is full and complete including all MOT certificates and tax discs back to the original disc issued in 1972.
Complete stainless steel exhaust system fitted less than two years ago.
All four tyres replaced last year together with new front disc brake pads and shoes to the rear.
Invoices and receipts for all genuine BMW approved replacement components supplied by Jaymick over the past 20 years.
One year old, tailored car cover (for in garage use) included in sale.
Genuine very reluctant sale forced due to divorce settlement.
This car is probably the best example of this sought after modern classic in the country, having won National concourse competitions at Masterclass and Elite class levels. It is ,however, also very practical and economic to run as an everyday means of transport.
I have personally driven it all over the UK and Europe including a 1,200 mile round trip to show it at the Le Mans Classic Race Meeting. It is a true sports saloon delivering surprisingly agile performance being happy to cruise the European motorways (at speeds in excess of the UK limit) quite comfortably all day long. It is impossible to believe that both this car and the BMW 2002 Auto marque cellibrate thier 40th. anniversary this year.
