Just 2 owners from new and a genuine 31,100 miles supported by full service history and every mot from new. Retaining its original paint work applied in the Volvo factory 31 years ago, absolutely mind blowing.
XHC 775T
The first owner took delivery of XHC 775T in june 1979 and was used very infrequently totaling a mere 26,000 miles in 26 years, always kept in a heated garage and never driven on rainy days.
XHC 775T Changed hands on the 19/09/2005
Over the following 5 years in the hands of its new owner, a collector and enthusiast who took it to numerous shows and won a hand full of trophies for the best of it's class.
XHC 775T covered just 5,000 or so more miles and was kept in a dry garage during his ownership.
Bodywork:
All of the panel’s glass and paintwork would seem original.
The paintwork retains a deep lustre and has an extremely smooth finish.
No paint rectification is required.
There are no signs anywhere of rust, including the underside and wheel arch lips, inner floor and boot floor.
The door shuts, underside of the doors, boot and bonnet shuts are as new.
Of course no welding has ever been carried out, and, most certainly none is required.
The heated rear window works as do all the other instruments.
All the chrome is in first rate condition.
Interior:
In line with the rest of the car you could be forgiven for thinking that this is a vehicle that is only a few months old when you see the interior.
The seats are original although at great expense have been reupholstered in yellow and red velour,
at the same time red wool over rugs were specially made for the front and rear floor areas with
the original carpets in as new condition.
The door cards, dash and the rest of the trim are in like new unmarked condition.
The unmarked white headlining is excellent.
Original Volvo wheels are like new with chrome rims and centre piece, finished with new whitewall tyres.
Under the bonnet:
Exceptional as it was the day it left the factory when new 31 years ago.
Under the bonnet the engine bay is spotless and only through such limited use could it present so well and correct.
Original stickers remain like new.
There is no sign of deterioration to the visual appearance of components.
Once again you would never know the age of the vehicle from an inspection in here.
In the boot:
In keeping with the rest of the car, trim in exceptional unmarked condition.
Beneath the spare wheel the boot floor is spotless.
The spare wheel is new with an unused white wall tyre.
There is an unused Jack and wheel brace with the socket still in its original plastic container.
Chassis:
The chassis on XHC 775T is like new, as it was when it left the Volvo factory 31 years ago.
On the road:
XHC 775T starts on the button.
There are no untoward noises or smoke
The auto gearbox changes up and down smoothly just as it should.
On the road the car drives like an absolute dream, in fact like a new car the 2.1 petrol engine sounds
and behaves like a 31,000 mile Volvo engine should.
New full stainless steel exhaust fitted.
Having not had a great deal of experience with the Volvo 244's I was totally delighted when I drove XHC 775T.
Summary:
Surely one of the finest, if not the finest, original low mileage examples anywhere’.
Many enthusiasts and collectors search for years until they find ‘the right car’ If you have been looking for a Volvo 244 DL in concourse condition then you need look no further, the search is over.
XHC 775T is in mind-blowing condition and is definitely a Concours contender.
It certainly took my breath away when I first saw it, and still does.
This Volvo 244 impeccable in every way and has been truly loved and cherished and if that was not enough it’s only covered 31,100 miles. A rare opportunity indeed, don’t miss it because you may well never get another !
