Sellers original description:
Fiat 126 BIS Convertible, Mot 15th May 2011 and tax until 31st March 2011, 23,304 miles with history, 100% reliable fun car you are guaranteed to get noticed in this car it really is a true one off and brings smiles wherever you go. The car was professionally converted to a convertible in 2002 (chassis etc strengthened) and has also been changed on the DVLA record to a convertible. The Fiat was also resprayed Ford Radiant Red (apparently the brightest red available) in 2004 when we bought the car. The BIS in my opinion is the best version of the 126 as it is more powerful, has a boot and is water cooled like modern cars and therefore has a reliable heater for those sunny days when its not so warm! Being registered in January 1988 it is one of the first Fiat 126 BIS's. The car always flies through the MOT as it did again with no advisories, the floor pan and chassis (save for the conversion requirements) have never been welded and are in fantastic condition.
The car did have a mechanical overhaul in 2009 including the following:-
All new brake cylinders and pipes (may as well change everything!)
New brake master cylinder
New Bosch starter motor
New clutch
New battery
Wheels professionally refurbished (tyres off, sandblasted then primed twice then painted gloss black) at a cost of over £200
We have only used this Fiat 126 between April and September each year on nice days (we have four other cars), the engine and gearbox run perfectly with no unusual noises or smoke when started from cold. The pictures attached were the ones used for the classic car valuation and I will attach pictures with the roof on in the next few days. The car insurance is £78 per year fully comprehensive (with the convertible modification) and has been on a classic car policy since 2004 with an agreed valuation. The fluids and filters are changed each April before the summers use, which is normally 500-700 miles!! So you could say I am meticulous with the servicing.
